With that in mind, it’s crucial that you keep your resume to one page that is divided into easy-to-read sections, such as “Work Experience” and “Education,” and bold their titles to draw the eye. Also, be sure to lay out your employment and academic history in chronological order, starting with your most recent experience at the top.

Include Important Content

• Personal Info: Put your full name, address, phone number, and email address on your resume.
• Work Experience: Start with your most recent position and work backward, using short sentences and positive language. Be sure to outline your responsibilities and achievements.

• Volunteer Work: Volunteering can be a great way to gain experience, and an employer will see that you’re involved in your community if you include any volunteer positions you’ve held.
• References: Some employers will expect you to provide the names and contact info of two to three people who are not related to you and can attest to your character and experience. Be sure you speak to these people in advance and obtain their permission to use them on your resume.
